Although it might seem hard to leave projects behind, sometimes you really feel the need to take on a break.
What better way to do so then to take advantage of a long weekend that can really make the difference and prepare you to get back to work more ready than ever to develop high quality applications.
This is what I've done last week and as a real patriot took the day off for 1st December and celebrated the big union of the Romanian states with some R&R in Busteni on the Prahova Valley. Good to have a National Day close to winter if you ask me.
After a quite easy road, compared to how it usually is during holidays I've reached Busteni, and checked in at Complex Cochet, a nice and cozy location near Poiana Tapului. Although mountain resorts are all about coziness and lack of modern appliances I was astonished on how modern the complex was. I mean look at what type of WI-FI routers they had:
Ubiquiti are quite the nice way of managing a wide area WI-FI connection as they provide a nice well written Java build access point controller and the ability to link a huge number of endpoints to cover an area without the need to re-connect through each access point based on your location in the network.
Now, back to R&R. With some good luck right the day I reached the location snow started and it looked magnificent. The white layer of snow really made the area look beautiful and emphasized the cozy feeling of the complex, forcing us to actually spend the first day in a blissful moment of continuous snoring.
The next day we hopped in a Jeep, as it was to windy for the cable car, and went on a nice trip to the surroundings (Bolboci Dam, Ialomita Monastary, Mount Batrana) which I invite you to see in the following gallery:
It was a great trip and I highly recommend when you get the time simply leave everything and go breath some mountain air.
